Constructing and Comparing Models
There is a new toy being sold at Toys and Co. It is a ball that when put in water spits out another ball. Tony bought this toy and put it in his bathtub that was filled with 10 gallons of water. The toy spits out a ball every hour and sucks in twice the amount of water every hour that it did the last hour. Graph the problem.
The information increases at a steady rate. The number of balls increases by one each hour and the number of gallons sucked in multiplies by 2 each hour.
To compare the two graphs above I would say both are increasing and both represent the word problem accurately.
